1) PROMPOSAL IDEAS
Do to all the overwhelming cute promposals that have been flooding social media the past couple of years, it is hard to stand out. Here are some tips to set you apart this prom. 1.Research: Do your research on your soon to be prom date. Find out what they like and love and incorporate that into how your ask them to prom. If you know they love Starbucks, then by all means consider bringing them their favorite hot or iced drink with "PROM?" written on it. 2.Preparation: All great things start with good preparation, if you want your promposal to be successful you need to prepare. For example involve your friends have them help you set up and prepare weeks and days in advance. 3.Keep it quiet: The more surprised they are, the better. Make sure that you keep this hush-hush so that your potential date won't know what hit them. Keep it casual, for instance have a pre-proposal movie night the day before just so they can feel like everything is normal. Also: SNACKS 4. BIG!!!: The bigger the better go all out making it a day that no one will ever forget. whoever said bigger isn't always better was wrong, make this something they will never forget. Include your sports teams, bands, choir or favorite teachers. |
2) PERFECT PAIRINGS
Many couples spend hours trying to find the perfect color to match the dress and at the end of the day the colors still look off in the photos. Different fabrics can reflect light in different ways and can make the fabric look lighter or darker than it really is. When you are trying to find the perfect vest and tie combination remember to bring the dress or fabric swatch in to help match it better. Also remember that not all colors look good with different skin tones so consider allowing the date to go slightly darker or lighter in the color pallet than the color of the dress. See some examples below of coordinating similar colors instead of trying so hard to match, only to fail when you get the photos back. You can easily add pops of color with flowers & pocket squares.

Instead of settling for the ill-fitting dumb and dumber tuxes or the hard to match bright red tuxedos, consider a classic red-carpet look. Here are a couple great options to consider to help you stand out while still looking fresh and not like the class clown.

8) THE PERFECT DRESS FOR ANY BODY TYPE
Girls will usually shop multiple locations trying on dozens of dresses in hopes to find the perfect dress. Our best advice for trying to find the perfect dress for any body type is... "Listen to the experts." We partnered up with PURE BRIDAL in Ames to help us with our last photo shoot. They could tell by all the girls' measurements what would be the best dress for their body type. Also remember that it is important to keep in mind that you need to fit the largest part of your body first and then make any needed alterations from there. Here are some quick tips for different body types on what you should look for.

Also remember that it is important to keep in mind that you need to fit the largest part of your body first and then make any needed alterations from there. Here are some quick tips for different body types on what you should look for.
BUSTY The busty body type is when your bust is large, your hips are narrow and often the waist is not well defined. The key to dressing a busty body type is to draw attention up to your face and to balance your broader upper body with your narrower lower body to create more of an hourglass effect. This is achieved by choosing dresses that add curves to your hips while creating a more defined waist. | APPLE The apple body type is when you carry your weight through your middle. As an apple body type you typically have slim legs and a shorter undefined waist. A dress with an empire waist or embellished top draws the eye to your upper body. An A-line or full skirt will help camouflage your middle, and if you love your legs, be sure to show them off! | SLENDER The slender body type is when you have a thin frame throughout. As a slender body type you should accentuate your long and lean physique with a fitted dress. You can also create shape with an empire waist, asymmetric neckline, belt around your waist, or a dress that has a slit - this will add curves and dimension. |
HOURGLASS The hourglass figure is curvy. Your bust and hips are proportionate to each other and your upper body is balanced with the length of your legs. The best dresses for this body type will accentuate your best asset, which is usually a well-defined waist. Natural waistlines form fitted tops, v-necklines, open necklines, accentuated waistlines and wrap dresses will all look great and enhance this body type. | PEAR The pear body type is when your hips are larger than your bust and your waist is well defined. With a pear body type your waist is your best asset, so be sure to flaunt it! When dressing a pear body shape, the goal is to add volume to your upper body, emphasize your small waist and de-emphasize your lower body to create a balanced silhouette. We recommend a dress with a fitted open neck or strapless top and full or A-line skirt to hide a wider hip | PETITE If you have a petite body type, you are typically less than 5' 3". Showing a little leg with a short dress can go a long way, or wearing an asymmetrical hemline that can make you appear taller. Floor length gowns and full skirts tend to overwhelm your frame. Opt for slim fitting dresses with a V-neckline, vertical prints or pleating since these will elongate your silhouette. Delicate, feminine dresses are a great compliment to your body type and the perfect pair of high heels is always a great accessory |
9) PLAID SUSPENDS & BOWTIES
One thing we all know is that a tux is never complete without suspenders & a bowtie. Set yourself apart this prom season with one of 30 different colors. What a great keepsake gift you can wear again and again after prom for only $29. You should try mixing it up with patterns and colors to give you that trendsetting look you're shooting for. Nothing says trendsetter more then a guy who can rock a tux with plaid suspends & bowtie.

10) GO IN A GROUP
We always hear girls or guys saying they don't know if they are going to prom since they haven't been asked yet. Forget tradition!! Go with a big group of friends. Rent a limo (Chauffeurs Of Distinction) or hire a videographer (The Vine Productions) to record your night of fun. That way you can have the time of your life with the friends that have became family to you over your high school years and capture the night perfectly. Imagine rolling up to prom with 12 of your closest friends in a limo with your own personal driver and videographer for the evening and it's super affordable when splitting with a bigger group.
